Participants are expected to adhere to the following principles and guidelines:

To affirm LGBTQ identities and lives and promote an affirmative and supportive environment.
To use inclusive language, avoid stereotyping, and not assume everyone is heterosexual.
To maintain the confidentiality of any person seeking information or assistance.
Do not act as a counselor. Simply use the resources avaliable here to direct individuals to the proper service.

Participants should realize that posting a Safe Place Card is a powerful statement; it suggests that you are ready to respond favorably to those who are marginalized because of sexual orientation or gender identity as well as prepared to challenge discriminatory or stereotypical language.

To maximize the success of this project, participants should familiarize themselves with this site's resources. All participants will be added to a low-traffic email list, SAFE_PLACE-L, that will keep them apprised of new resources or other pertinent information.

To participate in the Safe Place project and receive your card, please fill out the online reply form, available here.

Project materials will be mailed out on the 15th of every month. Additional mailings will occur during high traffic times.

If you are unable to complete this form online please contact CUGSA via email.
