General Services & Information:

LGBT Resource Center
Services include advocacy, advising, programming, peer matching, diversity training, research, and referrals. The center is located at 282 Caldwell Hall and you can contact them via email or by phone (607) 254-4987.

Counseling & Support:

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Student Support & Outreach
Provides one-on-one confidential support, consultations and referrals, as well as peer support training and leadership opportunities for LGBTQ students, and supports LGBTQ student-led peer support groups.
Empathy, Assistance & Referral Service, EARS
A student run, professionally supervised, program that provides free, confidential counseling, communication and counseling skills training, and outreach workshops. The office is located at 211 Willard Straight Hall, and counselors can be reach at (607) 255-EARS. For more information contact them via email.
Counseling & Psychological Services, CAPS, at Gannett: Cornell University Health Services
The main student counseling service of the university. Staff members offer consultation, assessment, crisis intervention, group and short-term individual and couples counseling to full-time registered students. Areas of concern include psychological issues (such as depression, eating disorders, alcohol and drug abuse, suicidal thoughts, self-esteem), personal issues (such as relationships, sexual identity, stress management, harassment), and interpersonal issues (concerns about others by TAs, RAs, professors, coaches, other students). CAPS is located on Levels 1 and 2 of Gannett and is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 5. Phone: 255-5208. When CAPS is closed, students with mental health emergencies may consult with a counselor by phone; call 255-5155.
Clinical Counselors at Gannett: Cornell University Health Services
Provide informal information, support, counseling and referral for issues related to sexual health and wellness. Clinical counselors are not therapists, but are professional staff specifically designated to assist members of the Cornell community in exploring their own values and options in a confidential space. Frequent topics include sexual decision-making, sexual identity and relationships, STIs, pregnancy, communication, sexual function, sexual health and pleasure. For appointments call 255-5155.
Employee Assistance Program, EAP
Offers free, confidential, professional counseling and consultation services by telephone or in person. EAP can be contacted via email or phone, (607) 255-1531.
Bias Response Program
Bias incidents should be reported and handled according to protocol outlined by the Office of Workforce Diversity, Equity and Life Quality.

Organizations:

Haven
Serves as an administrative umbrella for student organizations involved in support and outreach to LGBTQ students at Cornell. Haven includes several confidential support and discussion groups, such as OUTreach, LBQ (Lesbian, Bisexual, & Questioning Women), Dialogue, and Safe Space. The social, education, and outreach groups include CUGSA (Cornell University Gay-Straight Alliance), Mosaic, and Greeks United.
Ga'avah
Ga'avah seeks to provide a safe space for LGBT Jews on campus and to provide a voice for the Jewish LGBT community through outreach.
Lambda Law
Offers support for lesbian, gay, and bisexual students in the Law School community, works for the recognition of the rights of non-heterosexuals by the legal system, and informs the community about issues affecting lesbians, gays, and bisexuals.
Out in the World, OIW
A social organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students of Cornell University. The majority of members are graduate students, however, faculty, staff, and undergraduates of Cornell are welcome, as are members of the Ithaca community. The mission of OIW is to provide social events and gatherings for the LGBTQ community. For more information subscribe to OIW-L, the organizations mailing list.
Women Out in the World, WOW
Provides a safe and comfortable social forum for lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning women to interact. For more information email.
ZAP! Sexuality Discussion Panel
A gender-balanced, culturally integrated panel of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning people, as well as heterosexual allies, who come together to share ideas about sex and sexuality as they relate to their lives. ZAP! panels go to dorms, classes, RA trainings, health programs, local schools, and special programs with the purpose of educating and creating a comfortable, informal forum for discussion of issues relating to the LGBTQ and ally community.
Cornell University Gay and Lesbian Alumni, CUGALA
provides an opportunity for gay, lesbian and bisexual Cornellians to meet, socialize, network, and support current students, GLB programs on campus and the university.

Health Care:

Gannett: Cornell University Health Services
Provides primary care medical services, counseling and psychological services, physical therapy, and health education to all full-time registered students. Gannett staff members are conscious of the diversity of the Cornell population they serve and are committed to providing services that are sensitive, confidential, and responsive to the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles. Gannett's regular hours are M-F, 8:30 to 5; Sat., 10-4. Call 255-5155 to make an appointment, ask a question, get information, or talk with the health care provider or counselor on call whenever Gannett is closed.
Sexual Health Services
Gannett provides compassionate, confidential counseling and medical services for women and men; people who are abstaining, people who are sexually active; lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, heterosexuals, and transgendered people. Gannett offers services related to contraception; emergency contraception; routine gynecological care and annual examinations; colposcopy; sexually transmitted diseases (including HIV); pregnancy testing and referral; and sexual assault. Moderately priced contraceptive prescriptions and over-the-counter supplies are available at the Gannett dispensary (Level 3). For more information call Gannett Health Center, 255-5155.

Academic:

Lesbian, Bisexual, & Gay Studies
Part of the Feminist, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Program in the College of Arts & Sciences, LBG Studies is devoted to the study of sexuality and its importance to the organization of social relations more generally. Primary among its concerns is also the study of lives, the politics, and the creative work of sexual minorities.
Human Sexuality Collection
The Human Sexuality Collection seeks to preserve and make accessible primary sources that document historical shifts in the social construction of sexuality, with a focus on U.S. lesbian and gay history and the politics of pornography. Located in Kroch Library, in the Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections, it is an amazing local resource that will open doors to doing original, sophisticated research in this field; see the online Sexuality Research Guide for a start. It is also a good place to spend an enjoyable afternoon looking at photo albums from lesbians and gay men living in the 1930s-1950s, the covers of 1950s pulp novels, 1970s lesbian feminist newsletters, and a wide range of books including: Husband Hunting Made Easy and Other Miracles for the Modern Gay Man and We're Glad You Asked. Experienced reference librarians will be there to help you get started and find what you are looking for.

Ithaca Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Task Force
Promotes awareness of issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people by conducting public meetings, informational programs, artistic events, and social activities to work towards the elimination of prejudice and discrimination and to improve relationships and understanding among and between the LGBT community and heterosexual people.

Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network, GLSEN
Focuses on ending anti-gay bias in K-12 schools through education. However, GLSEN provides many relevent resources on how to combat homophobia, heterosexism, and gender identity oppression in any institution.

Parents, Family, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, PFLAG
Promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. PFLAG has over 460 affiliated local chapters nationwide.

Politcal Organizations:

Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, GLAAD
Dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of individuals and events in all media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
Human Rights Campaign
The largest national lesbian and gay political organization, envisions an America where lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community. HRC has more than 450,000 members, both gay and non-gay, all committed to making this vision of equality a reality.
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force
National progressive organization working for the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people, with the vision and commitment to building a powerful political movement.
